STARS Summer 2008
STARS Summer 2008
We had a great Summer 2008! For the first time, we offered an intensive English class for refugee Somali teens who are unaccompanied minors, with the help of volunteers from Duke University. Marhaba volunteers taught the summer program of "Children of the Nile," promoting cross cultural understanding and including sports, arts, music and drama. Dr. Kathy led a sewing class for the teens. We finished all the summer programs on 28 July with a Cultural Festival, with African foods, arts and crafts, and shows by the children and teens. It was a glorious day! See our pics of some of this fun.
