Join us to improve your communication skills in conflict and learn to be a community mediator.  40-hour course.  Taught in Arabic & English.

Regular Course Offerings


Basic Course:  Introduction to Conflict Resolution.  This course covers essential communication skills for reducing conflict and working through conflicts.  It also trains participants to be community mediators.


Advanced Courses:  International Conflict Analysis, Post-Conflict Peacebuilding OR Principles and Practices of Negotiation.  These courses build on knowledge gained in the Basic Course. Skilled application of practices is the goal of these courses.  Pre-requisite: completed the Basic Course.


Training for Trainers (for Conflict Resolution or Community Empowerment):  Learn how to deliver conflict skills trainings and community mediation trainings.  Pre-requisites:  Basic Course & Advanced Course.

TRAINING FOR TRAINERS, about how to teach our basic course.  Ten new Community Trainers graduated!


COMPLETED IN JULY 2012: 


COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT, a training for trainers.  How can you mobilize your community on solving its problems, advocacy, or creating positive change?  How can you promote better relationships in your community?  How can you prevent burn out?  How can you help community members cope with Post Traumatic Stress? This 6 week course provided the tools needed for community leaders.

PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF NEGOTIATION:

Advanced Course III

Improve your conflict skills to negotiate large group conflicts.  Understand the dynamics of international negotiation.  When do you need a third party negotiator?  How can you effectively engage citizens to support a negotiated settlement?  Instructor:  Dagmar Nolden. Completed December 2011.


INTERNATIONAL CONFLICT ANALYSIS: 

Advanced Course I.

What are patterns of interstate or intrastate conflicts?  How do they develop?  What issues do they form around?  Can conflicts be predicted and prevented?  If you have completed our Introduction course, you are eligible to join this advanced course.  40-hour course.  Meets Monday evenings downtown, 6:00 - 9:00 pm.  Course instructor: Benjamin Petrini.  Completed June 2011.


POST CONFLICT PEACEBUILDING: 

Advanced Course II.

How can a society rebuild itself and help its citizens accept a new peace settlement?  How can you build a culture of peace?  What about disarmament?  How can you reintegrate former soldiers into a peaceful society?  If you have completed our Introduction course, you may join this course.  Completed in September 2011.
